Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor jointly offered by the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 492419), to commence on September 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment between the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering. The appointment will initially be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal, and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Direct tenure and Chair title may be offered to outstanding candidates.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics or Engineering with expertise in photonics, topological metamaterials, nonlinear optics, plasmonics, nano-fabrication and optoelectronics. They should be able to demonstrate excellence in research and scholarship; and evidence of leadership in curriculum and pedagogy development, and teaching effectiveness. The appointee will have a lighter teaching load during the first contract. The teaching duties will be assigned by the Head of Department. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
