Applications are invited for appointment as part-time (35%) Lecturer (holding the title of Curriculum Development Officer) in the Faculty of Education, to commence on March 1, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter to March 31, 2019.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in mathematics, mathematics education or a related discipline; a professional teaching qualification; and at least 5 years’ teaching experience in mathematics, preferably at primary level, or relevant experience. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and knowledge of educational research.  Experience in developing school-based curriculum and/or teaching mathematics for non-Chinese speaking students will be an advantage.

The appointee will work for an EDB-commissioned project on supporting the teaching and learning of mathematics for non-Chinese speaking students in primary schools.  He/She will provide support to the professional development of mathematics teachers at the project schools, particularly on the design of mathematics curriculum and relevant materials for the chosen curriculum topics/units.  The appointee will also play a crucial role in leading collaborative lesson planning at different project schools by attending the collaborative lesson planning meetings and observing the lessons crucial to the development of the mathematical understanding on the chosen curriculum units/topics. He/She will also monitor the school-based curriculum development process, including the design of the curriculum materials and the evaluation of the implementation.
