Legal Counsel (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Technology Transfer Office (Ref.: 201800070) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should be qualified as a lawyer (preferably in a common law jurisdiction or PRC) with at least 6 years of post-qualification work experience in law firms or as in-house legal position, preferably in the area of patent law, copyright law, business and commercial law and PRC law.  They should have excellent analytical and drafting skills with the ability to provide accurate, practical and timely advice; and have a strong understanding of commercial issues and risk management. They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua); proficiency in English and Chinese word processing and PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook; excellent interpersonal, organizational, detail-oriented and communication skills; a strong sense of responsibility; be self-motivated, hardworking, and able to work independently under minimal supervision.

The appointee will be required to draft and review legal agreements and documents; provide legal advice in areas of technology transfer, research and knowledge exchange, especially IP licensing, research related contracts and compliance of institutional policy and laws; liaise and negotiate contract terms with internal and external parties; develop and advise on internal policies, practices and procedures; conduct legal research and translate English and Chinese legal documents.
