Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (several posts) in the Centre for Genomic Sciences (Ref.: 201800132) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Centre for Genomic Sciences (CGS) is an academic core laboratory established in 2002. Now under the management of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, we are undergoing rapid expansion.  The CGS hosts state of the art genomic and proteomic technology platforms.  With a team of researchers and more than 30 highly trained and dedicated staff, we aim to provide leadership in genome research in Hong Kong and the region by developing expertise and infrastructure for studies in genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics. We offer excellent staff development opportunities. Good exposures and interactions with world-leading research groups in various research fields are commonly available. 

Applicants should have an M.Phil. degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related discipline; with at least 2 years’ relevant laboratory work experience.  They should have a strong passion in science and technologies; be a fast-learner, self-motivated, responsible and conscientious; be able to work well independently in a multidisciplinary environment; and possess a good command of spoken and written Chinese and English, and competency in MS Office applications.  Working knowledge of our existing technology platforms would be desirable.  Those with less experience or qualifications may be appointed as Technical Officer.  The appointees are expected to operate sophisticated scientific instruments to support core service and research.  They will liaise with clients to coordinate service logistics and provide technical advice, evaluate and validate new technologies.
