Applications are invited for appointment as tenure-track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor or non-tenure-track Associate Professor (Teaching) in Medical and Allied Healthcare Education (MHSE), to commence on September 1, 2018, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal. Professoriate staff on a tenure-track may be considered for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

This is a joint position between the Faculty of Education and the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (through the Bau Institute of Medical & Health Sciences Education (BIMHSE)), with the Faculty of Education as the tenure home.  The Faculty of Education is ranked number 4 among the top Education faculties worldwide by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for Education 2018. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Healthcare Education, Speech and Hearing Sciences or a related field; and be professionally qualified as a Speech-Language Therapist. They should have strong teaching experience in the relevant area, and have a commitment to Knowledge Exchange/community engagement.  In addition, applicants applying for the tenure-track position should have strong research and scholarship, and experience in conducting externally funded and field-based research.  

This position aims to foster the collaborations on developing future clinical educators in the medical and allied health professions.  In addition to contributing to development and delivery of current Medical and Health Sciences Education programmes and collaborations, the appointee will be expected to (i) work with colleagues in both faculties on a new initiative to develop, deliver and direct a new M.Ed. specialism in Medical & Health Sciences Education;  (ii) provide training in clinical education to allied healthcare professionals (AHPs) in the region; (iii) contribute to the professional development of clinical supervisors through the work of the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences; (iv) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student projects and theses; (v) conduct research within the area of clinical education; and (vi) take up administrative and/or clinical duties as required.  The appointee may have opportunities to lead the development of innovative clinical services in the Division’s Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic.

A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
