Applications are invited for appointment as Administrative Assistant II (holding the functional title of Manager) (4 posts) in the Industry Liaison Team of the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a degree in science, engineering, chemistry, biological science or other scientific/technical disciplines, with at least 5 years’ work experience in the relevant industry. Experience in product/business development in commercial companies would be advantageous.  Applicants should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); a high level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills; be familiar with the IT/science/engineering/chemical/pharmaceutical industry; be highly self-motivated, creative, marketing-oriented, hardworking, capable of independent in-depth research; and be able to work under pressure. Those who have responded to the previous job advertisement (Ref.: 201800322) need not re-apply. 

Main duties:

  1. Work closely with faculty members and academic staff for the collaboration with commercial entities;
  2. Work closely with the University offices, especially with Legal, Finance, Research Services, Knowledge Exchange Office, and Registrar, to ensure that the collaboration is in compliance with the University’s policies and practices;
  3. Manage collaboration deal structuring, internal/external negotiations, the launching, execution, and follow-up of the projects; 
  4. Institutionalize industry network, build the industry data base, manage the communication with industry, and engaging them for further collaboration;
  5. Work closely with the Business Development Team of the TTO to create commercialization opportunities of the University’s technologies through active marketing and execution of industry engagement strategies; and
  6. Monitor key performance indicators, including the number of deals administered, the amount of industry income, and the number of cases leading to licensing/commercialization.
