Full-time/Part-time Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I/II/Student Research Assistant in the Department of Law (Ref.: 201801017) (to commence as soon as possible for 9 months, with the possibility of renewal) 

Research Assistants will have different responsibilities depending upon their skills and experience. Applicants should satisfy one or more of the following sets of requirements. 

  1. Possession of advanced skills in English copy-editing (line-editing, proofreading, etc.) Applicants should have English-language writing and editing abilities that are outstanding even by the standards of native English speakers. Prior background in law or political science, and/or knowledge of legal citation practices, are advantageous but not required.
  2. Possession of general legal research skills, including identifying and locating relevant legal materials and legal scholarship (both domestic and foreign), and completing and correcting citations. Applicants should have at least two years of study in law (any jurisdiction). Literacy in languages other than English, and/or knowledge of Bluebook citation practices, is advantageous but not required. 
  3. Possession of skills in data entry, collection, and analysis. Ideally, applicants should possess a working knowledge of statistics/econometrics, commonly used statistical software packages (especially Stata and R), and/or computer programming skills (especially Python). Knowledge of automated content analysis and/or topic modeling software packages (such as STM) is advantageous but not required. Applications from degree holders and/or RPG students in the social sciences (as well as hard-science disciplines such as math, statistics, and computer science) are welcome. 

Applicants under any of these categories should have strong communication skills in English and the ability to work independently. Tasks will vary depending upon the applicant's skill set.
