Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in Built Environment and Health Working with the FAMILY Cohort in the Faculty of Architecture (Ref.: 499114) to commence as soon as possible for 20 months. The appointee will work in the Healthy High Density Cities Lab (HealthyHDCities), a research lab originating from the collaborations between the Faculty of Architecture and the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in environment epidemiology, public health related discipline, healthy cities or a related subject and have undertaken original research that has contributed to the body of knowledge. They should also have a strong quantitative background, experience in analysis of large epidemiological data, demonstrated expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets, and the ability to work independently and in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The post has a strong focus on statistical modelling with cohort data (including multilevel, longitudinal and structural equation modelling) and GIS-based spatial analyses for measuring built environment in cities.
The appointee will report directly to the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. He/She is expected to devote fulltime to research, and specifically, will work in the domain of built environmental epidemiology – deciphering links between health specific GIS-based built environment exposure metrics and multiple behavioural and health outcomes within a large population-based cohort of over 46,000 participants in 20,000 households. The objective will be to reliably decipher causal mechanisms from multiple forms of built environmental exposures in high density environments to behaviour and health outcomes with an objective of creating healthy places and cities.
