Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I in the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) (Ref.: 500280) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

CETL is looking for web developers who are interested in helping students in high schools and universities to gain more confidence in their subjects and improve their grades. Starting with mathematics, we are developing a mobile web app that will implement and automate regular tests in the classroom, and give personalized feedback to students. We welcome application from those who are looking for a meaningful way to contribute their web development skills to improving the education in Hong Kong.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, 3 years’ relevant work experience in web development, and a good command of written and spoken English. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with non-technical team members. A Master’s degree in a related discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Education, Information Technology), and experience in additional web development side projects would be advantages.

Applicants should also have skills and experience in frontend web technologies including HTML5/CSS/JavaScript and RESTful API, preferably with experience in Vue.js framework and D3.js JavaScript framework for data visualization; OR experience and skills in PHP and MySQL Database for the backend, preferably with experience in Laravel framework. Those with skills and experience in both frontend and backend are preferred. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I.
