Legal Counsel (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Technology Transfer Office (Ref.: 502182) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should be qualified as a lawyer, preferably in a common law jurisdiction or PRC, with at least 6 years’ post-qualification work experience in law firms or as in-house legal position, preferably in the areas of patent law, copyright law, business, commercial law and PRC law. They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua); proficiency in English and Chinese word processing and PC applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook; excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and analytical thinking skills; and a strong sense of responsibility. They should also be self-motivated, detail-oriented, hardworking, and able to work independently under minimal supervision. The ability to provide accurate, practical and timely advice, and a thorough understanding of commercial issues and risk management is essential.
The appointee will draft and review legal agreements and documents; provide legal advice in areas of technology transfer, research and knowledge exchange, especially IP licensing, research related contracts and compliance of institutional policy and laws; liaise and negotiate contract terms with internal and external parties; develop and advise on internal policies, practices and procedures; conduct legal research; and translate English and Chinese legal documents.
