Technical Manager/Assistant Technical Manager/Technical Officer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref: 502678) (to commence on or before December 31, 2020, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 3 years’ relevant experience. Knowledge and working experience of cleanroom operation and maintenance would be an advantage. Those with less qualification and experience may be considered for appointment as Assistant Technical Manager/Technical Officer.
The appointee will join a new collaborative centre led by Professor Anderson Shum which develops completely new and disruptive biomedical instrumentation that will meet the growing needs in medicine and contribute sustainably to human health. He/She will be responsible for monitoring the laboratory environment, particularly cleanroom, for humidity, pressure, temperature, particulate and contamination data by tracking the built-in sensors in the laboratory; performing maintenance and developing guidelines to enhance operating efficiency of the laboratory; developing standard operating procedures; assisting in implementation plan; coordinating technical training and safety training to the users; coordinating with the university safety office on chemical handling and disposal protocols; managing daily facility operations in the facilities, including but not limited to the cleanrooms; and resolving any escalated issues.
