Nurse (holding the functional title of Research Nurse) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 507954) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or above, and be registered with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and a keen interest in research in epidemiology and/or vaccine trials. They should be organized, responsible, ethical, self-motivated, detail-minded, and able to work independently and as a team. Experience in clinical research, vaccine trials and blood-taking would be an advantage.
The appointee will assist in the implementation of community-based studies and vaccine trials of respiratory virus infections (e.g. COVID-19 and influenza) in Hong Kong. He/She will recruit participants, conduct interviews and questionnaires, collect clinical specimens including blood draws and respiratory specimens, and conduct active surveillance of illnesses and health education. Those with more experience will also contribute to the management and strategic planning of the studies by overseeing study activities, supervising and training junior research staff, ensuring good clinical practice, liaising with regulatory and external bodies, writing up standardised operating procedures (SOPs), conducting quality assurance, and participating in investigator meetings. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
