Technical Officer (several posts) in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of the School of Public Health (Ref. 508860) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should have a Master’s degree in biological/medical sciences or a related discipline, with at least 3 years’ research experience in influenza and coronaviruses. They should have a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and a hard-working attitude. They should have substantial experience in (i) processing clinical and animal specimens in BSL-2 and BSL-2+ environment; (ii) operating manual and automatic nucleic acid extraction platform; (iii) performing RT-PCR tests, full genome PCR amplification, library preparation, and next generation sequencing (NGS); and/or (iv) conducting NGS analysis using Linux system. Experience in maintaining cell lines, virus culture, equipment maintenance and inventory system is a bonus. The appointees will work in a research team studying coronaviruses and influenza viruses. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
