Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Genetic Counsellor/Genetic Counsellor (at the rank of Senior Counsellor/Counsellor) (several posts) in the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 516733), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a recognized degree in Genetic Counselling or a relevant discipline; with board certification, registration or eligibility in a recognized board of genetic counselling (examples include American Board of Genetic Counselling, Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors, Genetic Counsellor Registration Board (UK), European Board of Medical Genetics, Human Genetics Society of Australia). They should also have at least 1 year of relevant experience in clinical practice of genetic counselling in a cancer genetics clinic, and the ability to speak both Cantonese and English. 

The appointees are expected to participate in the cancer genetic programme of the Faculty.  They will work in a multidisciplinary team comprising clinicians, laboratory scientists and bioinformaticians to develop and deliver an integrative programme of clinical genetics and genomics, including provision of Genetic Counselling Services, in an academic clinical setting.  They are also expected to be involved in the development of an academic programme for the training of genetic counsellors.  Those with higher qualifications and/or more experience may be considered for appointment as Senior Counsellor.  Applicants who have responded to the previous advertisement (Ref.: 515616) need not re-apply.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Senior Counsellor, or up to 10% of basic salary for Counsellor.
