Research Assistant Professor in land-atmosphere interactions and hydrological modelling in the Department of Civil Engineering (Ref.: 527256), to commence in August 2024 or as soon as possible, on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Mingfu GUAN and his team in the Department of Civil Engineering. The appointee’s main duties are:
- Conduct research projects in land-atmosphere interactions, hydrological processes and modelling, regional climate modelling
- Publish original research articles in high-impact journals
- Secure external competitive grants, working independently and with other team members
Requirements
- A Ph.D. degree in a discipline related to meteorology, hydrology, environment, and earth system science
- Relevant post-doctoral experience
- Demonstrated expertise in the study of land surface modelling, climate extremes and impacts, regional climate analysis
- Demonstrated ability in securing external research grant is preferred.
- Able to work independently with a systematic approach
- Possess a good command of written and spoken English
