Research Assistant I/II -- Stable Isotope Mass Ratio Spectrometry in the School of Biological Sciences within the Faculty of Science (Ref.: 527553)

Job Description: The University of Hong Kong is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Stable Isotope Mass Ratio Spectrometry (SIRMS) team. The successful candidate will report to a Senior Technical Officer and assist with maintaining and operating the laboratory's stable isotope ratio mass spectrometers, including 2 Nu Instruments Perspective IRMS with EA and GC peripherals, 2 Thermo Delta V with Gasbench (N2O), EA and GC-MS (TSQ) isoLink, Elementar Precision IRMS with isoFlow, GHG, and methane furnace and a Picarro CRDS for water isotope analysis. 

SIRMS is the only open-access service facility for IRMS in China. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stable isotope mass ratio spectrometry or similar analytical instrumentation and laboratory safety protocols. 


 Responsibilities: 

- Maintain and operate the laboratory's stable isotope ratio mass spectrometers, 

- Prepare samples for analysis 

- Maintain laboratory records 

- Assist with research projects 


Requirements: 

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry, geology, or a related field 

- 2+ years of analytical chemistry 

- Experience with laboratory safety protocols
