Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 528599)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of researchers on health economics/pharmacoeconomics projects related to health preference elicitation using health survey methods (e.g., Discrete Choice Experiment, time trade-off, and other health preference survey methodologies), quality of life measures, patient-reported outcomes measures, survey validation, and economic evaluations in areas including but not limited to mental well-being, mental disorders, infectious diseases, cardiology, and oncology.
  • Assist in the management of community-related projects.
  • Assist in subject recruitment, design of health preference surveys, and conducting face-to-face interviews (individual or focus group).
  • Conduct standard statistical and modelling analysis of health preference choice data.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews and analysis.
  • Assist in the implementation of research projects in Hong Kong SAR and across mainland China.
  • Prepare and manage submissions to the IRB.
  • Prepare reports and manuscripts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Health Economics, Health Sciences, Public Health, Social Science, Social Work and Social Administration, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, or a related healthcare discipline. 
  • A relevant background in quality of life research, mixed methods research, analysing health preference choice datasets using R, STATA, or other analytical tools; designing questionnaires using Qualtrics; conducting qualitative interviews and analysis using NVivo software will be an advantage.
  • The ability to implement statistical analyses of health preference choice data.
  • Excellent coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese).
  • A strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Those with higher qualifications and more experience will be appointed as Research Assistant I.

 What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or a 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
