Applications are invited for appointment as Clinical Associate Professor of Practice (several posts) in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, School of Clinical Medicine  (Ref.: 528609), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a specialist qualification in Orthopaedics and Traumatology, or be eligible to apply to the Hong Kong Academy for the Certification of Specialist Registration.  They should have achieved national/regional recognition for professional expertise, in addition to a good and sustained record of success in one or more of the following areas:

i.          Clinical services;
ii.         Teaching and learning;
iii.        Knowledge exchange and services; and
iv.        Research (basic science, translational and/or clinical research).

Preference will be given to those with demonstrated administrative contributions and management experience in universities or health care settings.  There will be opportunities for academic growth, career development and mentorship, depending on the appointees’ interests and accomplishments.

The appointees will provide clinical service and patient care at the University’s affiliate teaching hospitals.  They will also focus on the education of medical students with support to academic research.  Travelling to Mainland China may be required occasionally.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in additional to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidates.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
