Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine/School of Biomedical Sciences

 

Applications are invited for a joint Department of Emergency Medicine/School of Biomedical Sciences appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (Ref.: 528671). The appointment is to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline. They should have strong background and research experience in at least one of the following areas: (1) aptamer selection; (2) point-of-care test development; (3) molecular biology; (4) chemistry. Training for specialised areas will be provided. They should be self-motivated, responsible and able to work independently as well as in a team. The appointee will work on interdisciplinary projects related to the development of novel DNA aptamers for diagnosis of biomarkers in patient samples.

These are collaborative projects, involving laboratories with expertise in aptamer selection, molecular biology, diagnostic test development, patient sample handling, emergency medicine and Chinese medicine. The appointee will have a good opportunity to learn and perform state-of-the-art research in diagnostic test design, development and implementation.

A highly competitive salary ($30,000 to $37,000 per month) commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
