Applications are invited for appointment as IT Technician in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.:528853), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

 

Applicants must have a degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or Computer Engineering with minimum 2 years of relevant post qualification work experience. Proven track record in IT operations and a good understanding of software development practices such as Agile framework. They should possess strong sense of responsibility, effective communication, analytical and problem – solving skills, and willingness to learn. English and Chinese proficiency (including Cantonese) is required. Relevant experience in the following areas will be an advantage:

  • software / web development (frontend / backend), with knowledge of dynamic interface and microservice design
  • RDBMS or NoSQL such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • server, security, or data migration
  • Agile or other SDLC Project Management

 

The appointee will support the development of mission-critical online platform for our community project to service the home-bound carers. He/She will:

  • solicit, analyze, and convert user requirements into system specification and prioritize user requirements according to the operational impact;
  • perform quality assurance test before user acceptance test;
  • support the development of communication and training strategy for solution delivery by coordinating with involved stakeholders (including University IT Services and vendors, our community partners); and
  • perform any other duties as assigned by centre director.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview and/or skills test.
