Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 530694) to commence as soon as possible, on a two- to three-year fixed-term basis.

Applicants should possess a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related discipline, with at least five years of experience in institutions/projects related to public health research and at least 3 years of relevant research experience. They should have an excellent academic background, demonstrated track record of initiating cross-sectoral collaborations, excellent written and verbal communication skills such as grant writing, and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. They should be competent in collaborating with external parties, including academics, funders, the government, and NGOs. Preference will be given to those with experience in carrying out research in population mental health / psychiatric epidemiology / related areas. Work experience in grant-making / fundraising and a track record of successful funding applications will be an advantage.

The appointee will be primarily responsible for coordinating research design; liaising with community parties and institutions; planning, developing and conducting large-scale epidemiological studies and outreach programmes in a large population-based cohort with over 46,000 participants in 20,000 households; overseeing data collection and management; writing scientific publications and reports; supervising research staff members; and performing other duties as assigned. He/she will also be driving the application process of research proposals, awards, grants, and knowledge exchange activities, from idea formulation to execution, and result dissemination. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical/dental benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15%. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
