Technical Officer/Senior Technical Assistant in the Centre for Comparative Medicine Research (Ref.: 531490) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
The Centre for Comparative Medicine Research is a rapidly expanding, AAALAC International accredited, academic research-support centre of the LKS Faculty of Medicine at HKU. We are committed to the provision of high-quality laboratory animals, well-equipped animal holding facilities, and professional services to support the leading role of HKU in research and teaching. We are seeking various talents and offer excellent staff training and long-term development opportunities. With a team comprising scientists, veterinarians, registered Laboratory Animal and Medical Laboratory Technologists, and over 100 highly trained and dedicated staff, we strive to promote the humane and excellent care and use of laboratory animals in the university. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; an interest in laboratory animal science and technology; and demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development in the field. Experience in animal husbandry, operation and maintenance of equipment for sanitation and sterilisation (e.g. autoclave), or inventory/record keeping will be an advantage but not essential.
The appointee will work in a team to undertake technical duties and staff supervision/management duties in connection with the operation of a laboratory animal facility.
