Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in Spanish (Global and Area Studies) in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref: 534003), to commence on February 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding.
Applicants should possess a relevant Master’s degree with demonstrated expertise in teaching Spanish to non-native speakers, plus at least 5 years of experience in teaching courses at the tertiary level. Applicants with a relevant Ph.D. degree or nearing completion of a Ph.D. degree, the ability to teach research-based courses on subjects related to Hispanophone cultures and Spanish pedagogy, and with a proven track record of planning and executing co-curricular activities and experiential learning programmes will receive preferential consideration.
Applicants must be native or near-native speakers of Spanish with excellent English proficiency. They should be conversant with current trends in Spanish language teaching and assessment, as well as with the application of AI and other cutting-edge technologies in language education. The appointee will be expected to teach a range of courses at different levels, develop new courses, and design assessment materials. While this is primarily an academic-related post with teaching and administration as the main duties, research activities will be encouraged.
