Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Ref.: 534527) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two- year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a Senior Technical Officer to manage and coordinate the Department’s new makerspace and workshop facilities. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline. Strong written and spoken skills in English and Chinese, including Putonghua, are required. They should be self-motivated, responsible, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Attention to detail and a strong safety mindset are essential. Prior experience in a makerspace, workshop, or laboratory environment is an advantage.
The appointee will manage the makerspace and workshop's technical facilities to support teaching and learning activities. Primary responsibilities include overseeing daily operations and equipment maintenance, implementing safety policies, and delivering training or induction programs for users. He/She will also manage procurement and inventory for consumables, provide technical guidance for student prototyping and fabrication projects, and assist with departmental outreach activities and other assigned duties.
