Demonstrator / Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology (Ref.: 536470) (to commence in August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a one-year temporary term, or a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totaling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.)
Applicants should possess a Master’s Degree or above in Social Sciences, or a related discipline, with at least two years of experience in teaching support in tertiary education settings. They should have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, as well as an excellent command of written and spoken English.
The appointees will support a range of undergraduate courses, including but not limited to, assisting course instructors in course preparation, delivery, and administration; conduct tutorials and lead in-class discussions; support student learning and academic activities; grade assignments and tests, and provide feedback; invigilate examinations; manage course Moodle; and perform any other duties assigned by the Department. The appointees may occasionally be required to work outside normal office hours, including evenings and weekends. Those with more extensive experience in teaching, and student consultations / supervision may be considered for the post of Demonstrator.
