Senior Research Assistant/ Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 496932) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Bioinformatics, Biological Sciences, Computer Science or a related discipline, with solid hands-on experience involving analysis of high-throughput omics data, including but not limited to, transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics data. They should be familiar with Linux/UNIX environment and scripting in Perl/Python/R. A track record in supporting data analysis for research groups, including omics analysis in academic/clinical setting would be an advantage. Applicants should also have effective communication skills, and a strong interest in working closely with biologists and clinicians; and be highly motivated, independent, and able to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment. Those who possess a Master’s or a Ph.D. degree with full-time work experience may be appointed as Senior Research Assistant.
The appointee will conduct data analysis using in-house analysis pipelines, expose to a wide range of applications, and interpret data generated from cutting edge technologies. Under the supervision of Professor Kwok-Yung Yuen and Dr. Jasper Chan, he/she will manage, explore and perform mining of important information from different types of omics data.
