Project Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Sustainability Office (Ref.: 499037) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary)

HKU is committed to making sustainability a guiding principle in our strategic development.  The Sustainability Office works to collaboratively develop, strengthen, and realize HKU’s institutional vision, commitments, and goals to integrate principles of sustainability into all aspects of the University’s facilities, operations and activities.  More information about the Office can be obtained at http://www.sustainability.hku.hk/.

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above with 3 years’ relevant work experience.  They should be experienced in implementing large-scale sustainability projects and/or campaigns, managing interns and/or junior staff, design and technical writing, and managing various communication tools.  They should have an excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese, a deep understanding of sustainability issues in higher education sector, demonstrated interest in and awareness of environmental and social sustainability issues, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the interest and ability to advance sustainability at the university proactively.  They should also be persistent, detail-oriented, thoughtful, creative, and able to work independently as well as in a team.

The appointee will steer, develop, and implement campus-wide sustainability initiatives (e.g. 2020 Disposable Plastic Free Campus Policy), liaise and engage with stakeholders on campus and externally, assist in developing long-term strategies and plans, manage communications and outreach campaigns and events, prepare sustainability reports, be responsible for copyrighting and editing, supervise student interns and junior staff and perform other duties according to the office’s development.
