Part-time Student Research Assistant in the Faculty of Education (Ref: 499647) (to commence as soon as possible for 6 months)
Applicants should be students in the Faculty of Architecture or have similar experience. They should have a good command of written and spoken English, excellent skills and significant experience with digital 3D modeling software such as Rhino3d, a high level of attention to details, and the ability to complete projects independently.
The appointee will help create virtual 3D reconstructions for an archaeological site in Armenia based on data collected during archaeological summer fieldwork. The site was an ancient castle with monumental fortification walls that are now in ruins. We will carefully record data about the remains in the field and these data will form the basis for various virtual interpretations of how the site looked in the past. We are 3D modeling all aspects of the archaeological remains—from the landscape, to walls and buildings, and to objects. We intend to use these reconstructions for scientific publications, as well as for the public to interact with the site using augmented reality. The appointee will help with all tasks related to 3D data recording, model processing (including using photogrammetry software), and visual presentation of the data. This is a scientific undertaking, so a high level of attention to details is required. The appointee will also have an opportunity to help design two new buildings—lab and residential spaces. He/She can do most of the work remotely over the internet from anywhere. The appointee should be able to spend some time during the summer of 2020 in Armenia to experience and work at the site with the team. Travel expenses will be covered.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. Closes February 24, 2020.
