Applicants are invited for appointment as Assistant Technical Director in the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences (Ref.: 500204), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in biology-related discipline, with at least 12 years of experience in leading a technical team for high-throughput multi-omics services to support scientific and/or clinical research, preferably within a University setting.  Solid scientific knowledge of the omics field is required for technology evaluation and grant applications.  They should also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, and experience in high-volume laboratory work processing and data management.  Preference will be given to those who have knowledge of laboratory construction concept, biobank operation, biosafety and laboratory accreditation guidelines.

The appointee will work with the Centre Director in overseeing the operation and expansion of the core facility, including all operational aspects covering scientific support, human resource management, financial planning, administrative oversight, reporting and forward-planning to meet changing needs.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
