IT Officer/IT Technician (3 posts) in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 500232) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
For post A (programming and e-learning)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, with at least 8 years’ relevant work experience in project management, programming and website/CMS development. Experience in mobile application (iOS/Android platform) and e-Learning platform (i.e. edX, Moodle) development is preferred. Those with good knowledge in Agile methodologies for software development will have an advantage. They should have good senses in visual and graphic presentations (including augmented reality and video production), practical knowledge of website design and internet programming languages/tools (CSS 3, HTML 5, PHP, Java Script, MySQL, Wordpress, etc), and strong problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills. They should also be a good team player. The appointee will be responsible for developing and maintaining e-Learning platforms, project websites, web applications, and performing other programming duties as assigned.
For post B (audio-visual systems and general computing/IT support)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer
Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 5 years' relevant work experience in operating/maintaining audio-visual systems or computer equipment. Experience in broadcasting, video/audio production, and studio setup is preferred. The appointee will be responsible for operating and maintaining audio, video and computer facilities installed in Faculty Chamber & meeting rooms; conducting photo or video taking/editing for Faculty activities; assisting in web, multimedia production; providing general computing/IT support; and performing any other duties as assigned.
For post C (video production)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Film, Digital Communication, Media Studies or a related discipline; with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience. The appointee should have good proficiency in video shooting and using of video equipment (e.g. Prosumer camcorders and DSLR cameras). Those with experience in handling lighting and audio related equipment will have advantage. They should also have practical skill in video editing and video motion software such as Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Good understanding of the full-spectrum of video production from Pre-production, Production to Post-Production is a must. The appointee is expected to produce video and other multimedia production from a loose guideline, and to perform other duties as assigned. Shortlisted candidates may be required to provide a portfolio of their past multimedia work for consideration by the selection panel.
Those with lower qualifications or lesser experience may be considered for appointment as IT Technician.
