IT Officer/IT Technician in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 500423) (to commence as soon as possible on one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in information engineering or related disciplines, with experience in information technology, web and mobile application development, systems design, advanced electronics and communications. They must have experience in building a website from scratch using Wix and PHP frameworks. They should also have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese). They should be an effective team player, self-motivated, highly responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team. Solid experience in modem operating systems in MacOS, Linux, iOS, Windows, Android and Content Management System is required. Knowledge of Apache, DBMS (e.g. MySQL), JavaScript, QGIS, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and certification in MCSE would be a definite advantage. Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be appointed as IT Technician.

The appointee will develop and manage an information system for research specimen handling; provide hardware troubleshooting and technical support involving websites, databases, file servers and applications; and provide support to our research utilizing R, Python, PHP, JavaScript and SQL. He/She will assist in managing research data, data capture, creation, storage, retrieval, sharing, security, analysis, optimization and data visualization; handle data extract routines, data reporting and protection; and ensure that databases are following standard operating procedures and University guidelines.
