Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Registrar (AR)/Administrative Assistant I (AAI) (several posts) in the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 501897), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year or three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Founded in 1887 as the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, the LKS Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) is the longest established institution in higher education of Hong Kong.  Today, it ranks 28th globally among faculties for clinical, pre-clinical, and health, and 4th among all universities in Asia (T.H.E. 2020 Rankings).  With rapid growth in facilities, funding and students, the Faculty is searching far and wide for staff who are ready to dream big, find success, make a difference, and be part of the senior administration team of the Faculty Office.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above with at least 10 years’ team leadership experience in the higher education sector or a public/quasi-public organization.  They should be competent communicators with an excellent command of English and Chinese; be self-motivated with strong strategic awareness and able to work proficiently with significant independence; and possess a high level of decision-making, organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills.  Demonstrated ability to plan and implement projects of high strategic value in a fast-paced work environment is also required.  Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered as AAI.

The appointees will play a vital role in leading junior executive and clerical staff to support the Faculty’s administration in one or more of the following areas: (a) human resources; (b) financial management; (c) strategic communications and student engagement; (d) student affairs and admissions; (e) research administration; (f) corporate governance; (g) information technology; (h) staff training and development; and (i) general administration and management.   They will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, oversee the administration of service and development in their respective functional area(s), manage and mobilize resources, contribute to strategic planning and process re-engineering, and perform other duties as assigned.  Work outside office hours and on weekends may be required occasionally.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and/or written test.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable for AR.
