Research Assistant I/II in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 502389) (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or above in cell and molecular biology. Knowledge of molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, RT-qPCR, conventional PCR tests and DNA sequencing is required. Experience working in a molecular laboratory would be an advantage.
The appointee will work in a research team led by Professor Malik Peiris for the surveillance of influenza viruses and coronaviruses in humans and animal hosts. He/She will collect samples in the field, conduct laboratory tests and perform other research-related duties as assigned.
