Technical Officer in the Department of Civil Engineering (Ref.: 502625) (to commence on January 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefit scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or related disciplines, with hands-on experience in repair of equipments and troubleshooting computer problems. At least two years of related work experience is preferred. They should have experience in computer and equipment management; server administration (Microsoft/Linux) and network administration; web page design with programming and development; and providing end-user support and training. Sound knowledge of video recording system, video conferencing (e.g. Zoom and Microsoft Teams), multimedia production and apps development will be an advantage. Apart from being self-motivated in learning across disciplines, responsible and well-organized, applicants should possess good problem-solving skills; the ability to work independently and as a team player in a multi-disciplinary environment; competency in general computer applications; and a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
The appointee will be expected to provide technical support in maintenance of equipment and servers in the Department and research labs, and to assist the teaching staff primarily in the daily operation of the Computer Laboratory, including the Electronics Workshop for undergraduate courses and research projects. They may also be required to provide technical support to events and ad hoc projects as assigned. On-job training of the operation of equipment will be provided.
