Student Wellness Counsellor (at the rank of Student Advising Officer) in the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 503029) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in a mental health discipline (e.g., clinical, counselling, or educational psychology, social work, or psychological counselling), with at least 5 years’ post-qualification counselling experience (including practicum or internship) in tertiary education sector / or other mental health agency, preferably with passion to work with youth and experience in working with high achieving populations. They should also be eligible for membership/registration of relevant professional bodies in Hong Kong or overseas. Evidence of experience in providing counselling service, working with young people / students and running wellbeing programs are essential. One or more years of expertise serving students who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, crisis intervention would have an advantage. Applicants should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills; excellent skills in outreach service and social networking; as well as an appropriate level of IT skills.
The appointee is expected to work in close collaboration with the Faculty Office and academic departments to enhance student wellness where necessary. He/She should demonstrate commitment to working collegially and collaboratively with various internal and external constituencies. The appointee will provide individual counselling service, and organize and run workshops, campaigns, outreach programmes of various nature on mental health/student psychological wellness. He/She should also be self-initiated and proactive to lead, plan, design and implement programmes to enhance the wellbeing of students under the Faculty. Other duties might include engaging in extra-curricular activities with students beyond regular office hours and performing any other student services as assigned by supervising officers.
