Part-time Research Assistant I in the Department of Sociology (Ref.: 503031) (to commence on February 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter for four months)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Anthropology, Sociology, Media Studies, Communication, Journalism, or other related disciplines; a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua); and excellent research, problem-solving, and project management skills. They should also be self-motivated, have a good sense of responsibility, be able to work independently, and be able to use MS Excel and Word.
The appointee will assist in a project that aims to gain in-depth knowledge about film industries with a focus on technology and computer graphics. Duties will include arranging and transcribing interviews; collecting data on the Hollywood film industry, and developing an annotated bibliography of the emerging scholarly research dedicated to the use of AI and VR in US and Chinese media entertainment. He/She will assist Dr. Sylvia Martin in coordinating and implementing research activities of her project on Hollywood industry and its relationship to the US state and perform any other relevant tasks as assigned. He/She will have ample opportunities to work with research professionals, media professionals, as well as stakeholders in the community.
