Applications are invited for appointment as Head of Communications, Business School (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I) (Ref.: 503334) in the Faculty of Business and Economics, to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or related disciplines with at least 8-10 years’ relevant work experience in marketing, corporate public relations, or communication, including at least 4 years’ experience with supervisory role, preferably in a tertiary institution or a public organization. They should have excellent corporate communication skill sets and strong network in business or media-related fields; deep knowledge of business landscape and management principles including strategic planning, leadership techniques and budgeting; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; the ability to present ideas and information in a concise and organized manner with excellent time management skills; and the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the School and to work independently and as part of a team.
The appointee will design, develop and implement the integrated branding, marketing and communications plans to raise the profile and enhance the visibility of HKU Business School to internal and external publics; research, adopt and implement applicable industry best practices for effective marketing and communications programmes and initiatives that will advance the School towards stated goals and objectives; assist the Faculty Dean in media relations dealing, business communication, event planning, online presence and branding footprints; establish effective media, business partner and marketing affiliate relationships; manage the communications team and work with external resources where required, to translate strategic business objectives into engaging campaigns to meet desired objectives; and serve as the editorial director for all communication channels, including but not limited to executive speeches, talking points, press releases, publications in digital and print platforms, etc. Those who have responded to the previous advertisement (Ref.: 502841) need not re-apply.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
