Senior Research Assistant in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 503582) (to commence as soon as possible, on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Social Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Statistics, Computer Science, Public Health, or a related discipline with 3 years’ post-qualification experience; or a Master’s degree in the aforementioned disciplines with one year’s post-qualification experience. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, a strong sense of responsibility, passion and interest in social sciences research (particularly caregiving and gerontology), and can be well adapted to teamwork. They should be familiar with programming languages (such as SAS or R), and have adequate knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistical software (such as SPSS). Those with a Master’s degree and expertise in data engineering, especially in handling large datasets, and 3 years’ work experience in social sciences, psychology or health science research are preferred.
The appointee will contribute to multiple projects that aim to understand and/or empower caregivers, frail elderly, and elderly couples. He/She will be responsible for literature review, questionnaire and interview design, data collection, management of the online self-assessment platform; data cleaning, data analysis and liaison with NGO partners; report writing, transcription preparation; and performing other research-related duties as assigned. He/She will work in a multi-disciplinary team and will require to take leadership role in the projects. He/She will have ample opportunities to collaborate with social sciences, and statistical experts for cultivation of research potential for the possibility of PhD study.
