Senior Technical Officer/ Technical Officer in the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences (Ref.: 503660) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biology, Physics or other related disciplines in science and engineering, preferably with work experience in a laboratory setting. Experience in operating Cryo-Electron Microscopy (EM) and preparation of biological samples for experimental measurement would be preferable but not mandatory. Applicants should have good interpersonal, organizational and planning skills, proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), and the ability to work independently and interact with staff and facility users at all levels. Those with lower qualifications may be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.
The appointee will be expected to learn Cryo-EM and assist other facility’s users. He/She will prepare biological samples for experimental measurement, assist in operation of microscopes, provide technical support and troubleshooting in the research projects for the facility’s users, provide application service to users, provide general administrative support, and perform any other duties as assigned.
