Well-merited applicants with other types of experiences (e.g., quantitative genetics background) will also be considered. The appointee will be given room in choosing their research direction within the broad area of ecological and evolutionary genetics. Possible themes include: i) intra- and interspecific variation in mutation rates in sticklebacks; ii) genomics of invasive bird species in Hong Kong; and iii) ecological genetics and genomics of hole-nesting passerines in Hong Kong. Opportunities to work with existing extensive genome re-sequencing and QTL-cross datasets of stickleback fishes are also provided. Other lines of promising and well-motivated research will also be given a consideration. The appointee is expected to supervise Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, as well as apply for research funding through the many funding instruments available in Hong Kong.
