Executive Officer in the Centre for Water Technology and Policy of the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 508560) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Social Sciences at HKU have jointly established the Centre for Water Technology and Policy to conduct innovative, inter-disciplinary research, and contribute to inter-disciplinary teaching programmes, on water science, technology and policy in relation to the broader urban sustainability agenda.  The Centre’s research programme involves the public sector, professional bodies and scholars in Hong Kong and internationally.  The Centre is committed to pursuing excellence in cross-disciplinary research and teaching on water technology-policy interface issues, and reaching out to the larger community to stimulate debates and deliberations on salient water policy issues with direct relevance to Hong Kong.

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor's degree with at least five years’ administrative work experience, preferably in a tertiary institution.  They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese), good communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in IT.  They should have a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as proactively as a member of a team, to meet tight deadlines.

The appointee is expected to work closely with the Executive Director and the research team, to provide them with logistical and administrative support in the preparation and submission of grant proposals.  In addition, he/she will handle the Centre’s human resource matters, financial transactions, and secretarial duties, as well as supervise junior staff in organising events and knowledge exchange activities.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
