Technical Manager/Assistant Technical Manager (holding the functional title of Project Manager) in the School of Public Health (several posts) (Ref.: 508585) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Master's degree or above, preferably in public health, biochemistry, or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ post-qualification work experience in project and/or clinical trial management. They should be organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese is required. Research experience in infectious diseases would be an advantage. Those with less experience and/or lower qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of Assistant Technical Manager.
The appointee will manage a team of research staff to conduct community-based research on the epidemiology and vaccine responses of COVID-19, influenza and other respiratory virus infections. They will oversee all aspects of the study; coordinate, train and motivate team members to recruit participants in outreach centres and the community; conduct regular participant follow-up activities including vaccination, in-person/telephone interviews, specimen collection and health education; ensure good research practice in compliance with standardized operating procedures (SOPs), GCP and other regulatory requirements; liaise with ethics, regulatory and external bodies; assist in quality assurance; and perform other administrative and ad-hoc tasks as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
