Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Ref.: 508697) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology or related disciplines, with at least 2 years’ hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology and medical genetics. Registration with the Hong Kong MLT Board and/or prior experience in molecular genetics would be a plus. Applicants should have experience in performing cell culture, setting up PCR and DNA Sanger sequencing reaction. Those with prior experience in performing whole genome and exome sequencing, and the bioinformatics knowledge of result processing and data analysis would have an advantage. Applicants should also be reliable, honest, committed, self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility, and be able to work independently as well as in a team. The appointee will perform molecular genetic analyses and be involved in research and development of new molecular techniques in a prenatal diagnostic laboratory.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
