Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 512701) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in public health, preventive medicine, biostatistics, or a discipline related to biomedical science. They should have relevant work experience, a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluent Cantonese is expected, conversational Mandarin is a plus), and a keen research interest in epidemiology and public health. They should be organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as a team. Experience in carrying out fieldwork in similar projects would be an advantage.

The appointees will assist in a range of ongoing community field studies on infectious disease epidemiology and/or vaccine trials. They will recruit subjects, conduct health education, collect and analyse data, and perform general administrative duties and other duties as assigned. Irregular working hours may be required occasionally. Information about the School can be obtained at http://sph.hku.hk/.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
