Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 512710), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Biological/Physical Science, with experience in single particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) or X-ray crystallography. Experience in molecular biology, protein expression and protein purification would be an advantage. Applicants should be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
The appointee will be involved in the structure determination of amyloids by cryo-EM as part of a research programme focused on Amyloids as Substrate of Biological Functions. He/She will be responsible for sample preparation from human and animal tissue, structure determination by cryo-EM and subsequent structural and biochemical analysis of biologically active amyloids involved in memory persistence and animal development. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary project team, will interact closely with biologists and computational biologists, and will have access to HKU state-of-the art cryo-EM facility, which includes an in-house Glacios and a Titan KRIOS as well as to the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences. Enquiries about the post should be sent to Dr. Hervas Millan, Ruben at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
