Assistant Business Development Manager (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Technology Transfer Office (Ref.: 515003) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree or above in Material Science, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics or a related discipline, preferably with at least 5 years’ related work experience.  They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.  They should also be familiar with business development and technology commercialization of universities’ applied research and technology innovations.

The appointee will be responsible for the technology transfer and promotion of the University’s translation research and technology inventions.  He/She will work closely with industry partners to license HKU inventions; establish new collaborative/contract research projects; and support the adoption of the HKU inventions.  He/She will also organize technology exhibitions and other events to actively promote HKU inventions; manage various entrepreneurship support programs nurturing the entrepreneurship culture; and assist HKU technology spinoffs and startups in developing their businesses.  Information about the Office can be obtained at
