Technical Manager / Assistant Technical Manager (holding the functional title of Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager) (several posts) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 515403) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in public health, medical science or related disciplines with at least 3 years’ post-qualification work experience in managing projects, clinical trials and/or epidemiologic studies. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. They should be organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. A keen research interest in epidemiology and public health would be an advantage. Those with less experience will be considered for appointment as Assistant Technical Manager.
The appointees will manage a team of research staff to conduct community-based research on the epidemiology and vaccine responses of respiratory virus infections including COVID-19 and influenza. They will oversee all aspects of the study; coordinate, train and motivate team members to recruit participants in outreach centres and/or the community; conduct regular participant follow-up activities including vaccination, in-person/telephone interviews, specimen collection and health education; and perform any other administrative tasks or special projects as assigned. Those with more experience and/or credentials will be expected to ensure good research practice in compliance with standardized operating procedures (SOPs), GCP and other regulatory requirements; liaise with ethics, regulatory and external bodies; and assist in data monitoring and quality assurance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
