Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer/Assistant Research Officer/Post-doctoral Fellow (RO/ARO/PDF) in Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 519995) (to commence as soon as possible on a one- or two-year temporary basis for PDF, or a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed-term basis for RO/ARO, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants for Post-doctoral Fellow are required to have a Ph.D degree in bioinformatic/biostatistic sciences; while applicants for Research Officer/Assistant Research Officer are preferred to have a Ph.D. degree in biotechnology/bioinformatic/genetics sciences. They should have knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, population genetics, evolutionary genetics. They should be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese and able to work independently and as a team.  Experience in next generation sequencing, bioinformatic pipeline development and writing research grant proposal will be an advantage.  The appointee will participate in a project which uses the bioinformatic pipeline to perform molecular diagnosis to immune-defect patients and perform downstream variants interpretation and functional characterisation when necessary.  He/She will plan and execute the research; prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; and perform other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for RO, or up to 10% of basic salary for ARO. For RO, housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
