Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in agroecosystem modeling and climate change in the Department of Geography (Ref.: 520491), to commence as soon as possible, on a one- to two-year temporary basis, with a possibility for further extension depending on performance.Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in geography, hydrology, ecology, remote sensing, atmospheric science, or a related discipline. They should demonstrate: (i) hands-on experience and expertise in agroecosystem monitoring and modeling; (ii) computer programming skills with proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Python, Fortran, or R; (iii) knowledge of large-scale spatio-temporal data analysis using cloud computing platforms, such as Google Earth Engine; and (iv) a strong track record of high-quality research, as evidenced by publications.
The appointees will undertake research in the following topics, such as 1) Response and feedback of agroecosystem to climate change 2) Remote sensing big data and agricultural system monitoring 3) Simulation and sustainability assessment of agricultural ecosystems. They will be joining a strong research group with multiple members and will supervise junior research staff and students, and assist in administrative, operational and other duties as assigned.
