Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Population Studies (Mental Health) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.: 530117)

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-track Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in Population Studies (Mental Health) in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.: 530117), to commence on 1 August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed term contract. Grade will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

The Department of Social Work and Social Administration, established in the 1960s, is the first social work training institute in Hong Kong’s history of professional social work education. Requirements
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree by the expected start date. Preference will be given to candidates who hold or will hold a Ph.D. in population studies, mental health, mental health policy, epidemiology, health statistics, or a related field. Those with an active research agenda, an established or promising record of substantial scholarly impact in the population study and mental health, the ability to teach core courses in the Department’s curriculum, and general expertise in the fields of population study, social work, and mental health are preferred. The preferred candidates are expected to show evidence or promise of high impact, funded scholarship, with an emphasis on issues relevant to population, mental wellness, and human behaviors.

What We Offer
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
